4-(2-Ethyl-5,7-dimethyl-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-3-ylmethyl)-phenol (8) (1 g, 3.55 mmol) was dissolved in 30 ml of THF and after addition of NaH (60% in mineral oil, 0.171 g, 4.27 mmol) the mixture was stirred for 20 min at rt. Then methyl 2-bromoacetate (0.382 ml, 3.91 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred for 16 h at rt. The mixture was quenched with H2O. The mixture was concentrated. The residue was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and NaCl-solution, dried over Na2 SO4 and evaporated. The crude product was used in the next step without further purification.
