4-Methylamino-3-nitro-benzoic acid (825 mg) was prepared by following General Procedure A starting from 4-fluoro-3-nitro-benzoic acid (1.0 g) and methylamine (2 M in THF, 8.1 mL) in THF. The crude product was used in the next step without further purification.
