Procedure
To a solution of spiro[furo[2,3-f][1,3]benzodioxole-7,3′-indol]-2′(1′H)-one (0.56 g, 1.99 mmol) and (5-chloro-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)methanol (0.30 g, 1.99 mmol) in anhydrous tetrahydrofuran (12.0 mL) was added tributylphosphine (0.60 g, 2.99 mmol) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 15 min followed by the addition of N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylazodicarboxamide (0.51 g, 2.99 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature overnight, quenched with aqueous ammonium chloride (10.0 mL) and diluted with ethyl acetate (350 mL). The organic layer was washed with aqueous saturated sodium chloride (2×25.0 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to dryness. The residue was subjected to column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane, 1/2) to give the title compound (0.20 g, 24%) as a yellowish solid: mp 194-197° C.; 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6,) δ 7.30 (dt, 1H), 7.20-7.12 (m, 2H), 7.05 (dt, 1H), 6.67 (s, 1H), 6.28 (s, 1H), 5.90 (s, 2H), 5.43 (d, 1H), 5.34 (d, 1H), 4.78 (d, 1H), 4.67 (d, 1H); 13C NMR (75 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 177.2, 168.3, 155.8, 155.4, 148.9, 142.2, 141.9, 132.2, 129.4, 124.2, 124.0, 120.1, 109.8, 103.7, 101.9, 93.8, 80.1, 67.5, 57.9, 25.6; MS (ES+) m/z 414.2 (M +1), 416.2 (M+1).
