2.73 g of 2-methoxyphenol and 5.5 g of potassium carbonate were added to 20 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide, and the mixture was heated to 60%. Into this mixture was added dropwise a solution comprising 4.3 g of N-(2,5-difluoro-4-nitrophenyl)acetamide and 30 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide at temperature from 60 to 65° C. The temperature of the mixture was kept for 1 hour while stirring, then, the mixture was cooled to room temperature, poured into water, extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was washed with dilute hydrochloric acid, washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate, and concentrated to obtain 5.52 g of N-[2-fluoro-5-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-4-nitrophenyl]acetamide.
