A mixture of 5 (1.65 g, 6.85 mmol), potassium carbonate (5.68 g, 41.1 mmol) and 2-fluoro-4-nitrophenol (1.65 g, 10.3 mmol) were heated to 170° C. in diphenyl ether (20 mL) for 5 hrs. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with EtOAc and washed with water. The organic phase was collected, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and the solvents were removed under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by column chromatography (eluents EtOAc-hexane 9:1, then MeOH-EtOAc 1:4) to afford 6 as a yellow solid (1.02 g, 41% yield).
