4-(1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]dec-7-en-8-yl)-2-methyl-7-nitro-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-one (Compound 193E, 515 mg, 1.56 mmol) was dissolved in THF (10 mL) and aq. 3N HCl (3 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred at rt for 4 h. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc (40 mL), washed with brine (2×10 mL), and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Evaporation afforded a yellow oil, which was used to next step without further purification. MS (ES+): m/z=287.10 [MH+]. HPLC: tR=3.13 min (ZQ3, polar—5 min).
