PROCEDURE

To a solution of 1.3 g of 2-[5-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-4-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-ylmethoxy]-2-methyl-propionic acid ethyl ester in 10 ml THF was added a solution of 130 mg of LiOH in 3 ml water at room temperature. After 5 h the mixture was brought to pH 2 by addition of 1 M hydrochloric acid. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic phases were dried over MgSO4 and the solvents were removed under reduced pressure. The isolated crude product was used in the next reaction step. Yield: 1.5 g.
