1.36 g (4.8 mmol) of chloramine-T trihydrate (Aldrich) are added to a suspension of 1.56 g (4.0 mmol) of the hydrochloride of 5-bromo-N4-isopropyl-N2-(4-methyl-sulphanylphenyl)pyrimidine-2,4-diamine in 20 ml of acetonitrile at room temperature. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 16 hours and then diluted with ethyl acetate. The mixture is filtered with suction and the filter cake is washed with ethyl acetate. The combined organic phases are dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated. The resulting residue is purified by HPLC:
