A mixture of 7-methoxy-2-thioxo-3-[4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)phenyl]-2,3-dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(1H)-one (383 mg), 1M aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution (1.0 ml), iodoethane (0.4 ml) and acetonitrile (10 ml) was stirred at 100° C. for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was allowed to be cooled, diluted with ethyl acetate (80 ml), washed with water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (NH, ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (375 mg).
