To a solution of EXAMPLE 56A (0.314 g) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) was added dropwise lithium diisopropylamide (1.401 mL) at −78° C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 60 minutes and 2-bromoethyl methyl ether (0.562 g) was added. The reaction mixture was slowly warmed up to room temperature, stirred at room temperature overnight, quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl solution (2 mL), and extracted with ether. The combined organic layer was dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated and purified by flash chromotography (silica 40 g, 0%-30% ethyl acetate/hexanes).
