Triphosgene (40 mg, 0.1 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-ethyl-3-pyridin-2-yl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-5-amine (80 mg, 0.3 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.1 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 1 h and was then partitioned between water and ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated to give crude 4-ethyl-4-pyridin-2-yl-4,5-dihydroimidazo[1,5,4-de][1,4]benzoxazin-2(1H)-one (0.060 g. 60%). LCMS calculated for C16H16N3O2 (M+H)+: m/z=282.1. found: 282.0.
