To a solution of 2-fluoro-5-(4-methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)pyridine (110 mg, 0.56 mmol) in (2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methanamine (1016 μL, 6.76 mmol) and DIEA (246 μL, 1.41 mmol) was added potassium carbonate (156 mg, 1.12 mmol). The resulting mixture was heated to 160° C. in an oil bath for 16 h, The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water, brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silicagel (ISCO) eluting with 0-100% ethyl acetate in heptane to give N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-5-(4-methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)pyridin-2-amine (100 mg, 0.29 mmol, 51.8% yield) as light yellow color solid. LCMS (m/z): 343 (MH+), 0.63 min.
