Procedure
HCl gas was bubbled through a solution of 2-5 (0.8 g, 2.5 mmol) and EtOAc (15 mL) at 0° C. for 15 min. After an additional 15 min argon was passed through the solution for 15 min followed by concentration. The residue was azeotroped twice with ether to give 2-6 as a yellow solid.
