Reagents, catalysts & solvents 1
Procedure
A mixture of 10 millimoles of fluorene, 1 millimole of N-hydroxyphthalimide, 0.05 millimole of acetylacetonatovanadium V(AA)3 and 25 milliliters of acetic acid was stirred, in an oxygen atmosphere, at a temperature of 90° C. for 6 hours. In analyzing a product in the reaction mixture by gas chromatography, fluorene was transformed into fluorenone (yield 48%) with a transformation rate of 54 percent.
