Into a 100-mL round bottom flask, was placed a solution of methyl 3-((2-(6-(3-(trifluoromethyl)benzylamino)pyrimidin-4-yl)-4-chlorophenyl)carbamoyl)benzoate (400 mg, 0.74 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in tetrahydrofuran (30 mL), water (30 mL), and lithium hydroxide hydrate (317 mg, 7.55 mmol, 10.00 equiv). The resulting solution was stirred for 4 h at 30° C. in an oil bath. The solution was adjusted to pH 1 with hydrochloric acid (1 mol/L). The resulting solution was extracted with 20 mL of ethyl acetate and the organic layers combined, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under vacuum. The product was obtained as 350 mg (90%) of a white solid.
