To a stirred solution of 5-hydroxy-N-methoxy-N-methylpicolinamide (1.0 eq), 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol (1.2 eq) and PPh3 (1.2 eq) in 5 mL anhydrous THF under nitrogen was added DIAD (1.2 eq) dropwise at 0° C. The reaction was stirred overnight at rt., quenched with water, and extracted with EtOAc. The extract was dried, concentrated, and purified by column chromatography to give the desired product (40% yield).
