Procedure
To acetal (56) (378 mg) in THF (2 mL) was added 1N hydrochloric acid (2 mL) and the reaction mixture stirred at ambient temperature overnight followed by heating to 50° C. for a further 3 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to 0° C. and neutralised with saturated NaHCO3 solution. The organics were extracted with EtOAc, dried (MgSO4) and the solvent concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound. Yield: 307 mg, 96%; LC-MS tr 1.26 min; HPLC Purity: 71%; MS (ES+) m/z 319 (M+H)
