Palladium hydroxide on carbon (˜40% palladium, 0.170 g, 0.12 mmol) was added to a solution of 1-tert-butyl 4-benzyl 2-((pyridin-3-yloxy)methyl)piperazine-1,4-dicarboxylate (0.649 g, 1.52 mmol) and ammonium formate (0.191 g, 3.03 mmol) in EtOH (10 mL), and the reaction mixture was heated to 80° C. for 2 h. Upon cooling to rt, the reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc (40 mL) and washed with water (3×30 mL) and brine (30 mL). The organics were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure, yielding 388.4 mg (87%) of the desired product as a white, waxy solid. LC-MS: RT=3.90 min, [M+H]+=294.1.
