To a solution of methyl 3-({2-[(1-benzofuran-2-ylsulfonyl)amino]-4-chlorophenyl}sulfanyl)propanoate (125 mg, 0.29 mmol) in THF (3 ml) was added a solution of LiOH.H2O (25 mg, 0.59 mmol) in H2O (1 ml). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour, acidified with 1M HCl, and was extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was triturated with MeOH to yield the title compound (102 mg, 84%).
