To a mixture of 3-methoxy-4-(3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzoic acid (0.15 g), tert-butyl hydrazinecarboxylate (0.17 g) and triethylamine (0.18 mL) in DMF (2 mL) was added HATU (0.49 g) at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, the mixture was washed with saturated brine and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (0.36 g).
