A mixture of 7-chloro-6-nitrothieno[3,2-b]pyridine (0.064 g, 0.30 mmol) (Example 1, Step 2), bicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-amine (from Aldrich, 0.050 g, 0.45 mmol) and triethylamine (0.083 mL, 0.60 mmol) in isopropyl alcohol (1.4 mL) was heated at 90° C. for 2 h. The mixture was concentrated to give the desired product, which was used in the next step without further purification. LCMS calculated for C14H16N3O2S (M+H)+: m/z=290.1. Found: 290.0.
