To a solution of 2-{3-allyl-4-[2-amino-3-(4-fluorophenyl)propionyl]-2-oxo-piperazin-1-yl}-3-naphthalen-2-yl-propionic acid methyl ester, 10, (168 mg, 0.324 mmol) in a mixture of THF (1 mL)/CH3OH (0.5 mL)/H2O (0.5 mL) is added LiOH (43 mg, 1.78 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred for 3 hours, acidified with 1N HCl to pH 3 and extracted with EtOAc. The extract is dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated and dried under high vacuum to afford the desired product in quantitative yield.
