In 30 ml of tetrahydrofuran was dissolved 628 mg (0.95 mmol) of 1,3-O-dioleyl-2-O-tetrahydrofuranylglycerol followed by addition of 5 ml of diluted (10%) hydrochloric acid, and the mixture was stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was then diluted with water, neutralized with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, and extracted with ether. The extract was dried and concentrated and the residue was subjected to column chromatography (silica gel/n-hexane-ethyl acetate) to provide 321 mg (57%) of the title compound as colorless oil.
