A mixture of 2.37 g (13.4 mmol) of 2-chloro-1-(2-isopropylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-yl)propan-1-one, 1.74 ml (13.4 mmol) of N-methyl benzylamine and 50 mg of NaI in 15 ml of MeOH was refluxed overnight. The mixture obtained after evaporation of the solvent was purified on an Al2O3 column, and recrystallized from ether/hexane to obtain 1.5 g of 2-(benzyl(methyl)amino)-1-(2-isopropylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-yl)propan-1-one.
