4-Phenylpiperidine was reacted with ethylene bromohydrin in the same manner as Reference Example 5, and the resulting oily 4-phenyl-1-piperidineethanol was further reacted with diketene to give 2-(4-phenylpiperidino)ethyl acetoacetate as an oil.
