To 3-iodo-4-nitro-1H-indazole (1.55 g, 5.37 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) was added 5-(bromomethyl)-1-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-pyrazole (1.51 g, 5.37 mmol) and K2CO3 (1.11 g, 8.06 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred overnight, diluted with EtOAc (100 mL), washed with H2O and brine (10 mL), and then concentrated under reduced pressure. Silica gel chromatography (Hexanes/EtOAc 5:1) provided the desired product (2.35 g).
