2-Bromo-6-(2-(1-methyl-4-phenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)vinyl)pyridine (102 mg, 0.3 mmol), imidazole (41 mg, 0.6 mmol), CuI (6 mg, 0.03 mmol), and K2CO3 (124 mg, 0.9 mmol) were mixed in dimethylformamide (2 mL). The resulting solution was heated for 5 h in a microwave reactor held at a constant temperature of 160° C. The crude product was purified using reverse phase column chromatography to give 2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-6-(2-(1-methyl-4-phenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-vinyl)pyridine (57 mg). MS (ESI): m/z 328 [M+H]+.
