Procedure

6-((1-(3-Fluoropyridin-2-yl)cyclobutyl)methylamino)pyridazine-3-carbonitrile (500 mg, 1.8 mmol, 1.0 equiv) was dissolved in THF (4.5 mL) and transferred to a 20 dram vial. The mixture was cooled to 0° C. and MeMgBr (1.8 mL, 5.3 mmol of a 3M solution in Et2O, 2.9 equiv) was added. The reaction was stirred at this temperature for 15 min. The reaction mixture was poured into ice water, acidified to pH of 2 with 2N aqueous hydrochloric acid, and then extracted EtOAc (30 mL). The organic layer was then separated, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to give a crude solid that was purified by silica gel column chromatography (50% EtOAc/hexanes) to give 104 mg (18%) of 1-(6-((1-(3-fluoropyridin-2-yl)cyclobutyl)methylamino)pyridazin-3-yl)ethanone as a white powder. m/z=301.1 [M+H]+.
