Procedure
To a solution of ethyl piperidine-4-carboxylate (13.0 g, 82.69 mmol,) in ethanol (130 ml) were added Et3N (17.29 ml, 124 mmol) and 2,4-dichloropyrimidine (13.55 g, 90.96 mmol). After stirring for 8 minutes at 80° C., the solvent was removed under reduced pressure and purified by normal phase chromatography, eluting with Heptane with 50% ethyl acetate to give compound ethyl 1-(2-chloropyrimidin-4-yl)piperidine-4-carboxylate (19.45 g, 76%) as a colourless oil.
