Ethyl isonipecotate was added to a DMF solution of 2,6-dichloro-5-fluoronicotinic acid, and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. to obtain 2-chloro-6-[4-(ethoxycarbonyl)piperidin-1-yl]-5-fluoronicotinic acid.
