To a solution of 5-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-2H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine (100 mg, 0.44 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in tetrahydrofuran (1 mL) was added sodium hydride (35 mg, 0.88 mmol, 2.00 equiv, 60%) followed by the dropwise addition of a solution of 5-chloro-2-nitrobenzoyl chloride (96.49 mg, 0.44 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in tetrahydrofuran (1 mL) and the resulting solution was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. The mixture was diluted with 50 mL of ethyl acetate, washed with 2×20 mL of brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under vacuum to afford 120 mg (67%) of a yellow solid.
