Procedure
5-Hydroxy-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)pyridazin-3(2H)-one (2.4 g, 13 mmol) dissolved in methylene chloride (75 mL) and cooled to 0° C. Triethylamine (3.5 mL, 25 mmol) and Tf2O (2.3 mL, 14 mmol) were added and the mixture stirred for a further 2.5 h. Saturated NaHCO3 solution was added and the organic phase removed, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. Purification by flash column chromatography (silica gel, EtOAc/hexanes) provided the title compound (2.47 g, 60%) as a yellow oil: 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.85 (d, J=2.8 Hz, 1H), 6.86 (d, J=2.7 Hz, 1H), 6.01 (dd, J=10.2, 2.2 Hz, 1H), 4.15-4.12 (m, 1H), 3.75 (dt, J=11.6, 2.5 Hz, 1H), 2.18-2.02 (m, 2H), 1.78-1.66 (m, 3H), 1.62-1.55 (m, 1H).
