Procedure
K2CO3 (2.00 g) and benzylchloride (1.2 mL) were added to a solution of ethyl 1-(2-fluorophenyl)-4-hydroxypyrazole-3-carboxylate (2.47 g) in anhydrous DMF (20 mL) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred overnight. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with H2O, sat. NaHCO3 and brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (EtOAc/hexane 1/19, 1/9, 1/4 and 1/2) to yield 3.09 g of the title compound.
