Procedure

3.1 g (10.5 mmol) of [3-[N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]propyl]-N-(bromoacetyl)-amide (Example 49a) is stirred with 50 mmol. of 1M hydrochloric acid in ethyl acetate for five hours at room temperature. The product is suctioned off, and the solid is rewashed with ethyl acetate.
