A mixture of 4-(4-benzylaminosulfonylmethylbenzyl)-phenylamine (39 mg) and 2-chloro-imidazoline base (1 ea) in 2-propanol was heated under reflux for 16 hours. A dilute solution of potassium carbonate was poured into the mixture and extracted with dichloromethane (4×15 mL). Solvents were evaporated to give 2-[4-(4-benzylaminosulfonylmethylbenzyl)-phenyl]amino-imidazoline as a solid (41.7 mg), m.p. 115-118° C.; Analysis for C24H25ClN4O2S.H2O: Calc.: C, 58.94; H, 5.98; N, 11.46; Found: C, 59.01; H, 5.91; N, 11.30.
