This substance was obtained by heating molar amounts of imidazolidin-2-one and ethylsulphonyl chloride at 150° to 180° (until the evolution of HCl had ceased). The pure substance was isolated by extraction with hot benzene, acetone and ethyl acetate from the crude product, and recrystallization from acetone (with addition of active charcoal).
