5.0 g 4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-amine, 4.29 g 4-bromomethyl-benzonitrile and 6.0 ml N,N-Diisopropylethylamine were suspended in 20 ml dimethylformamide. The reaction mixture was stirred under microwave irradiation at 100° C. for thirty minutes. The cooled reaction mixture was diluted by the addition of 100 ml ethyl acetate and washed 50 ml saturated NaHCO3 solution and the dried over MgSO4. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the resulting residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel with the eluent petroleum ether: ethyl acetate=3:2 to obtain 2.41 g 4-{[4-(4-Methoxy-phenyl)-thiazol-2-ylamino]-methyl}-benzonitrile.
