Procedure

To a suspension of NaH (60%, 134.0 mg, 3.4 mmol, 3.0 equiv) in THF (2.2 mL) at 0° C. was added 2.6.1a (300.0 mg, 1.1 mmol), bromoacetic acid (464.0 mg, 3.4 mmol, 3.0 equiv) and sodium iodide (167.0 mg, 1.1 mmol) successively. After stirring for 7 hours at room temperature, the reaction mixture was quenched with water at 0° C., diluted with EtOAc, and acidified with aqueous 1.0 N HCl aq. solution. The organic layer was separated, washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give [(2S,3S)-3-(tert-butoxycarbonyl methylamino)-3-furan-2-yl-2-methyl-propoxy]acetic acid (287.0 mg) which was used for the next step without further purification. MS m/z (M+Na) 350.0
