Procedure
To a suspension of 5-bromo-1H-indazole (2.5 g, 12.69 mmol, 1.0 eq) in DCM (10 ml) was added dihydropyran (3.2 g, 38 mmol, 3.0 eq) and a catalytic amount of PTSA (12% in AcOH, 1.8 ml, 0.1 eq). The mixture was stirred overnight and neutralized by addition of sodium bicarbonate. Then the organic layer was sequentially washed with 10% citric acid and brine, dried on Na2SO4 and concentrated under vacuum. The resulting residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel, eluting with DCM to give the expected compound as a colorless liquid (3.57 g, 82%).
