(1aR,5aR)-2-(4-Bromo-pyridin-2-yl)-1a,2,5,5a-tetrahydro-1H-2,3-diaza-cyclopropa[a]pentalene-4-carboxylic acid (1.00 g, 3.12 mmol) was dissolved in DMA (10 mL). Sodium hydride (60 wt %, 0.125 g, 3.12 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred vigorously for 5 min. Nitrogen was bubbled through the mixture for 10 min. Zinc(II) cyanide (0.734 g, 6.25 mmol) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (0.180 g, 0.156 mmol) were added. The reaction was microwaved at 120° C. for 1 h. The reaction was diluted with ethyl acetate (20 mL) and methanol (5 mL), filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified by preparative HPLC to give the title compound (0.557 g) as a white solid. LCMS m/z=267.2 [M+H]+.
