This compound was prepared according to the procedure C from methyl 2-(3,6-dimethyl-4-p-tolylthieno[2,3-b]pyridin-5-yl)acetate (0.080 g; 0.246 mmol), LHMDS 1N in THF (0.280 mL; 0.280 mmol), 1-iodopropane (0.040 mL; 0.410 mmol) in DMF (3.5 mL) for 3.5 h. Purification by flash chromatography on silica gel using a gradient of ethyl acetate (5-15%) in heptane furnished 0.087 g (96%) of the title compound as a white solid.
