Procedure

To a solution of 60.6 (26 mg, 0.042 mmol) in THF (0.4 mL) were added 30% H2O2 (47 μL, 0.42 mmol) and 1N LiOH (0.21 mL, 0.21 mmol) at 0° C. The mixture was stirred for 1 h at 0° C., adjusted to pH 3 with aqueous HCl, and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organics were washed with 1N Na2SO3 (pH 3) and brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated. The crude product was chromatographed on silica gel (10-45% EtOAc/hexane) and further purified by preparative thin layer chromatography (50% EtOAc/hexane) to afford 60 (1.6 mg, 8%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.28 (d, 1H), 7.48 (d, 2H), 7.18 (m, 4H), 7.14 (d, 1H), 7.04 (d, 1H), 6.94 (d, 2H), 6.07 (d, 1H), 5.17 (s, 2H), 4.55 (t, 1H), 3.35 (dd, 1H), 2.98 (dd, 1H), 2.61 (t, 2H), 1.60 (m, 2H), 1.37 (m, 2H), 0.93 (t, 2H).
