To a solution of [1-(4-cyanobenzyl)-1H-imidazol-5-yl]acetic acid (607 mg, 1.64 mmol), 3-t-Butoxycarbonylamino-2(RS)-aminopropionic acid methyl ester (352 mg, 1.61 mmol), HOOBT (319 mg, 1.96 mmol), and triethylamine (0.54 ml, 3.87 mmol) in DMF (13 ml) at 0° C., was added EDC (2.67 g, 13.9 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 18 hrs, diluted with EtOAc and the organic layer washed with sat. aq NaHCO3, brine, dried (Na2SO4). and the solvent evaporated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a white solid.
