Procedure
To a 5 mL round bottom flask was added the product of Example 2F (200 mg, 0.55 mmol), p-toluenesulfonyl chloride (125 mg, 0.66 mmol), 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (80 mg, 0.66 mmol), diisopropylethylamine (85 mg, 0.66 mmol) and anhydrous dichloromethane (2 mL). The resulting solution was stirred for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, transferred to a separatory funnel and washed with a solution of aqueous 0.1 N hydrochloric acid and then washed with brine. The organic layer was dried with magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 299 mg of crude product. Column chromatography [silica gel; eluent pentane-ethyl acetate (3:1)] provided the desired product (197 mg, 69%). 1H(CDCl3) δ(ppm): 1.62-1.70 (m, 13H); 2.43 (s, 3H); 2.58 (t, 2H); 4.03 (t, 2H); 7.15 (d, 2H); 7.29-7.33 (m, 4H); 7.72 (s, 1H); 7.77 (d, 2H). 13C(CDCl3) δ(ppm): 21.63, 26.98, 27.86, 28.34, 34.80, 66.37, 70.23, 71, 81, 118.25, 125.12, 127.32, 127.87, 128.93, 129.82, 132.48, 133.15, 142.40, 144.72, 153.75, 159.05.
