3-Chloro-5,6-dimethoxy-benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl chloride (2.0 g) and 4-hydroxy-piperidine (1.60 g) was suspended in tetrahydrofuran (15 ml) and triethylamine (0.96 ml) was added and stirring continued at room temperature for two hours. Water was added, pH adjusted to 3 by HCl and the precipitate filtered.
