To a solution of 6-(5-{1-[4-(cyclopropylsulfonyl)phenyl]-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)ethyl}-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)pyridine-3-carbaldehyde (100 mg) in 1,2-dichloroethane (5 mL) were added 1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-3-amine dihydrochloride (100 mg) and triethylamine (150 μL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. To the reaction mixture was added sodium triacetoxyborohydride (65.0 mg), and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate and saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The residue was subjected to preparative HPLC to give the title compound (30.0 mg, yield 24%) as a colorless amorphous solid. MS: 575 (MH+).
