Procedure

The solution of methyl 2-(4-((4-(2-cyclopropylphenyl)thiazol-2-yl)methoxy)-2-methylphenoxy)acetate from Step A is diluted with THF (1 mL), then a solution of 1 M LiOH in H2O (0.2 mL) is added and the mixture is stirred for 3 h at rt. The mixture is acidified with 1 M HCl (0.25 mL), EtOAc (10 mL) is added and the organic layer washed with brine (5 mL). The organic layer is dried (MgSO4), filtered, concentrated and purified on reverse phase HPLC (H2O/MeCN gradient) to afford the title compound B1 as a white solid: 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ=7.57 (dd, J=1.6, 7.6 Hz, 1H), 7.48 (s, 1H), 7.30 (dt, J=1.6, 7.6 Hz, 1H), 7.24 (dt, J=1.2, 7.2 Hz, 1H), 7.03 (d, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 6.90 (d, J=2.8 Hz, 1H), 6.78 (dd, J=2.8, 8.8 Hz, 1H), 6.69 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 5.41 (s, 2H), 4.62 (s, 2H), 2.28 (s, 3H), 2.10 (m, 1H), 0.89 (m, 2H), 0.72 (m, 2H). MS calcd. for C22H22NO4S (M+H+) 396.1. found 396.1.
