Procedure

To a mixture of EXAMPLE 224C (1.78 g) in tetrahydrofuran (30 mL), methanol (10 mL) and water (10 mL) was added LiOH.H2O (0.262 g). The mixture was stirred overnight. The mixture was then neutralized with 5% aqueous HCl and exacted with ethyl acetate (3×) and the combined organic layers were washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. Evaporation of solvent gave the title compound.
