To a solution of 5-bromo-3-fluoropyridin-2-ol (1.00 g) in DMF (10 mL) were added potassium carbonate (1.44 g) and (bromomethyl)cyclopropane (0.758 mL), and the mixture was stirred with heating at 70° C. for 30 min. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature, and diluted with ethyl acetate and water, and the organic layer was separated. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (491 mg).
