Into a 100-mL round bottom flask, was placed a solution of 5-chloro-2-nitro-N-(5-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyrazin-2-yl)benzamide (2.0 g, 4.73 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in N,N-dimethylformamide (30 mL), piperidine (1.0 g, 11.74 mmol, 2.50 equiv), and potassium carbonate (2 g, 14.47 mmol, 3.00 equiv). The resulting solution was stirred overnight at 100° C. in an oil bath. The resulting solution was diluted with 150 mL of ethyl acetate. The resulting mixture was washed with 1×50 mL of water and 3×50 of brine. The mixture was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under vacuum. This resulted in 1.7 g (76%) of product as a yellow solid.
